3M™ PPS™ Colour Match Film, available in 3 shades of primer (white, medium grey, dark grey), is a thin self-adhesive film that can be applied onto any surface shape and thus allows a exact determination of the colour and shade for the final base coat.

Step by Step Guide - identifying the correct colour and shade

Always select appropriate Personal Protective Equipment - Eyewear, gloves, hearing and respiratory protection for your job and workplace!

Step 1

Get the manufacturers colour code from the body chassis.

Step 2

Polish the area next to the repair spot and compare the colour with the colour cards provided by your paint manufacturer. Alternatively, use the photospectrometre to identify colour and suggested formulation.

Step 3

Select colour formulation and correct shade. Prepare the final colour according to formulation.

Apply your selected base coat onto a sample panel, generating an opaque coating, followed by a clear coat application to achieve the final appearance to compare with.

Once the correct colour and shade is found, store the 3M™ PPS™ Colour Match Film to build your personal paint-style library of colours and shades.
